I’ve known Lauren & Ryan for over 5 years now, I was good friends with one of their roommates and spent a lot of time with them in their previous Somerville apartment. So when they (finally 😉 ) got engaged and Lauren reached out inquiring with me, I was overjoyed and honored. Lauren is an incredibly sweet, hard working, dedicated, beautiful and creative woman. She is also a very talented graphic designer. Ryan is kind and intelligent, and together they make a perfect pair. Keep reading below for more about this Pierce House wedding!
How They Met:
Lauren & Ryan met at a party in college. When I asked her about her proposal story, she said “We got engaged in 2021 on July 5th. We took a walk from our Somerville apartment down to the John W. Weeks footbridge over the Charles River near Harvard Square. He popped the question on the footbridge and we ended the night at an amazing restaurant called Giulia on Mass Ave.”
I shot their beautiful engagement session by the Mass Ave Bridge in Cambridge, along Memorial Drive with the famous Citgo sign in the background.
The Pierce House Wedding Day:
On the day of their wedding, saying I was nervous was an understatement. I always get a bit nervous before every wedding (yes, even after 6 years!) but because I knew Lauren & Ryan well, I really wanted to blow them away. Of course this is my goal at every wedding, but especially this one.
I pulled up to the gorgeous, expansive yellow Pierce House in Lincoln, Massachusetts and immediately started taking exterior photos. The clouds were getting darker and I wasn’t sure I would be able to capture any later if it was raining heavy enough. When I entered the mansion, I was blown away by the exquisite vintage feel and architectural details galore.
I made my way up to the girl’s getting ready area and it was bustling with bridesmaids, mimosas, hair & makeup artists, and positive energy. I captured Lauren’s details downstairs by a gorgeous vintage gold mirror and then began taking candids of the final stages of getting ready. We took some robe photos and then it was time for Lauren to put her dress on!
The day went by quickly, as what usually happens at weddings. One thing about New England weather is that it’s very unpredictable. But thankfully, the rain held off for the most part besides some sprinkling during the ceremony which actually felt very nice on a hot day. Fortunately, the clouds cleared up and we were able to take stunning sunset photos! I also managed to get a photo with them as well which I’m hoping to do with all my wedding clients from now on! 🙂
