Ethereal Prescott Park Portsmouth, NH Engagement Session

Portsmouth is one of my favorite cities to photograph engagement sessions in. There is so much variety available, between the beautiful blooming Prescott Park, charming downtown area, and plenty of nearby beaches. The future bride-to-be, Emily, wore a gorgeous flowy white dress with blue floral detailing for her first outfit. This definitely helped to give the photographs an ethereal, light and airy vibe. She changed into jeans and a white tee for some more casual and fun couple’s portraits. They were so fun to work with and I can’t wait for their wedding in September at the Wentworth by the Sea! Emily actually works with my former bride, Lauren Cleveland, and reached out to me after seeing photos from Lauren’s wedding at the Pierce House in Lincoln, MA which is really special!

The Proposal:

Emily and Spencer met in 2020 through mutual friends. They got engaged 3 years later on Memorial Day weekend, “one day after purchasing our first home! I was so busy worrying about the house that it was a total surprise. I don’t know how Spencer was handling both 🙂 He surprised me on Ferry Beach in Scarborough, Maine (I am from Southern Maine) and my parents, his mom, and my best friend (who also happens to be a photographer) and her fiancé all surprised me there!”

The Engagement Session:

This Portsmouth engagement session has a great mix of candids, genuine laughter, and of course the classic posed moments as well. I strive to have a good amount of variety at all my sessions. That is another reason I always recommend 2 outfits. We were all laughing throughout the session and had a great time! On their wedding day, they are having their dog there for the ceremony… So naturally, I am even MORE excited knowing a pup will be attending. It is so awesome when couples include their pets on their special day! If you’re an upcoming bride and are hoping to include your dog, make sure to choose a venue that allows them! And hiring someone or designating a family member or friend to watch them is important as well to maintain a low stress day.
